Summer Reading

An Abundance of Katherines by John Green – I liked this book because of how the author writes. It gives me a different feeling than other books. It can be hard to relate to Colin looking at my own life, but the author manages to pull it off and allows me to empathise over his problems and say “Eureka” at his “Eureka” moments! I would recommend this book

The Boundless by Kenneth Oppel – I really liked this book because of the extremely great story build. The story is about a boy named Will (William) who’s father is first a workman on the railroad and then get promoted to the head of the train named “The Boundless”. One day Will meets a girl who steals his lucky Sasquatch tooth. He keeps looking for her and finally finds her 3-years later. In doing so he sees a murder happen and finds the key to unlock the hidden treasures on the train.  The story goes on with a huge adventure. It has villians, a circus, and strange creatures. Will, together with Maren the girl who stole his Sasquatch tooth, save the Boundless and is reunited with his father.

Counting by 7’s By Holly Goldberg Sloan – I really enjoyed this book because the main character, Willow drew me into her life and thoughts. I felt I was experiencing the whole thing. Counting by 7’s was a a really well-written book about a girl who’s parents suddenly die in a car crash and how she lives her new life without them. I would highly recommend this book to teens and adults.

The Sherlock Files – Tracy Barrett – I enjoyed this book because of the appealing mystery that Xwna and her brother Xander go through that makes you want to read on-and0n. Xena and Xander find out that they are are related to Sherlock Homes. The book would have been better if there were more obstacles other than school and adults, but overall I would recommend this book.

Down the Rabbit Hole – Peter Abrahams – I really liked this book because of the teeth clenching, sitting on the edge -of-your-chair feeling it gives you. Ingrid’s love for Sherlock Homes leads to a mysterious cracked-up-Katie case, chich Ingrid figures out. This book is really great and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Pokemon Adventures Vol. 17 – Hidenori Kusaka – I really liked this book because it is so exciting. On an accidental seafaring adventure, Ruby discovers a gorgeous Pokemon under the ocean. Ruby then faces the most terrifying battle of his life, against his father. Meanwhile, Sapphire continues to get gym badges, but is having some difficulty. One gym leader just fivers her a badge for doing almost nothing. Another has been captured. It is very exciting and I would highly recommend the series.

Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong – Prudence Shen & Faith Erin Hicks – I enjoyed this book very much because of the compromise at the end. The story is about the captain of a basketball team,Charlie; the leader of the robotics club, Nate; and the captain of the cheerleading squad, Holly. Nate wants money from the school to go to a big robotics competition. Holly wants that money for new cheerleading outfits. Charlie and Nates’ very unlikely friendship dies when Nate declares war on the cheerleaders because the cheerleaders threaten Charlie.
