Participation Grade

I don’t even know where to begin. I’m taking Spanish Regular this year. I thought it would be easier than my APs and Honors classes. It’s the same with a really bias grading policy. 10% of your grade is participation. I knew this would be a problem from the first day of class. I kept track of every time I participated in class. I participated at least several times each day. After 2-weeks the Spanish Teacher (with the American Accent!) gave me an 85%. First who gives out a participation grade after 2-weeks! Doesn’t she realize how bias that is. I spoke to the teacher (virtually) after class. She’ll give me 5 more points – but first has to speak to the department chair. I had to get to my next to go to so I couldn’t talk more. Sending an email. I want the grade to be 100%. I don’t think she understands that a stupid participation grade in the first 2-weeks of school lowers your year average by 1 point. This is a regular class – no bonus. One of the Merit Scholars from our school told me never to take a Regular class if you can avoid it. It was her biggest mistake – she would have been valedictorian.
