First 2 Days of Virtual School

Covid has been with us for 6 months. New York State has fewer cases than most other states by population count. Rockland county has 325,000 residents (per census data). They test about 400 people each day and we have 1-2% positive cases of those who are tested. Our school district decided to spend the first 3 weeks of school virtual, and then go into a hybrid model A-B-C days in High School and A-B in the lower grades. The first 5-minutes of virtual class was a bit tense. I couldn’t get in google classrooms. However, I knew a few students in My first period H Pre-Calculus class and I texted them and they said the teacher hasn’t shown up yet. All was good. It’s good to have friends in the class.

Period 2 was Yoga. I was expecting to do yoga in my room. The teacher said we would not be able to do any yoga in our virtual environments because if there was a problem he couldn’t help us. This will be a free period with sign-in for the remainder of virtual. Regular free periods we don’t need to sign in for.

I’m also taking AP American History, Studio Art, IB English 1 and Honors Chemistry. My mom said put a list together of everything that happened this year and know it’s a watershed moment. Global Pandemic, #metoo gains legitmacy, Black Lives Matter, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Beonna Taylor, Biden/ Kamala, 100th anniversary for women’s vote.
